Georgia Credit Union Executive Association held its Spring Meeting on March
15-17 at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
The meeting was sponsored by the Augusta Area Credit Unions and began Thursday
evening with a Welcome Cocktail Reception where members could meet and greet
each other. Friday's activities included a golf outing in the morning, an educational session in the afternoon followed by a networking reception in the evening. The educational session featured Attorney Marty N. Martenson of the Martenson Law Firm, LLP, Atlanta, GA. Attorney Martenson, who represents management in all areas of labor and employment law, spoke on Legal Issues Affecting Employers. He included information on proper documentation, sexual harassment, discipline/discharge, and the role of the supervisor. A Managers' Forum was held Saturday morning. Topics included business lending and accounts, mortgage interest rate pricing, sale of mortgages on the secondary market, out-of -state lending, kiosks, e-signatures, debit card implementation. Check cashing policies and fees, ALM programs and pricing IRA accounts. The highlight of the meeting was a monetary presentation given to the family of Carl Massey who past away last year. Carl's wife, Cheryl, and their two children attended the meeting Saturday morning to accept the gift. The Carl Massey Fund was established as a result of the collaboration between the Georgia Credit Union Executive Association and the Georgia Credit Union Affiliates to solicit donations from credit unions, individuals and credit union vendors who believed and loved Carl. The next meeting of the Georgia Credit Union Executive Association will be held at St Simon Island, July 12-14. The educational |
